Oscar Claude Monet (1840-1926) was a French Impressionist painter.He's considered as the founder of the Impressionism.Impressionism is a painting stream which supports reflecting reality as we see it without embelishing it. It supports showing the reality according to our first impression As this stream started to spread painters changed their routine of painting the noble and the distiguished ones,and started to focus on the simple people and nature.The impressionism stream turned art into more diverse,and suggested people from different social-economic classes something to identify with.For the first time the peasants and the poor poeple deserved to be perpetuated on paper. Although that it seemed that the artists left the beauty in order to paint the simple and the ugly, it was the reality that attracted not less attention than the divine and the royal.
Monet is famous for his series of paintings where he showed that the view changes by the weather,the light and other environmental conditions. Among his series of paintings there are The Zaan at Zaandam,Argenteuil, Seen from the Small Arm of the Seine,The Promenade at Argenteuil,The Pond at Montgeron,Floating Ice and many more.
His passion for painting allowed him to provide himself, as a child he sold his caricatures to the locals in Le Havre,Normandy and later he sold his painings as a professional painter.
In Normandy Monet met Eugène Boudin who taught him using oil paints.
Monet learned much from other artists and developed new kind af art by himself,he dedicaed himself to painting and that's how he gained a reputation of a great painter who deserves much respect and appreciation.
