Lessons I Learned in the Dark Steps To Walking By Faith, Not By Sight

Book Summary by: Brity10

Original Author: Jennifer Rothschild
Lessons I Learned in the Dark Steps To Walking By Faith, Not By Sight by Jennifer Rothschild is a book on the life and
experiences of a young, blind girl who grows up to be a warm, sensitive, christian, woman, wife, mother, speaker, author, and recording artist.  Jennifer Rothschild's eyesight starts to deteriorate near the end of junior high school.  Her parents took her to an ophthalmologist that prescribed stronger eye glasses, but they didn't help her.
Later she was told by doctors at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute that she had retinitis pigmentosa, a degenerative disease that slowly eats away the retina of the eye. There was no cure and at fifteen Jennifer would be totally blind.  Jennifer and her parents were devastated. Jennifer had learned to play the piano a few years earlier and she found solace in her music and her faith in God.
She learns many of life's lessons when times are good and circumstances easy and others she learned only in season of hardship, loss, and great darkness.  Jennifer says althought suffering can be the harshest of headmasters, its curriculum may open the door to freedom beyond our loftiest expectations.  She says that the greatest lesson that she learned in the dark is this:  Sometimes its only in the adversity we dread that we begin to discover the kind of life we've only dreamed of.
Jennifer is truly amazing in this book.  She learns to move around freely with a mobility instructor and the assistance of a trained dog.  She graduates from college and marries her college sweetheart.  They have two boys, Clayton and Connor.  Jennifer says that she learned one of the greatest lessons on learning to wait from her son, Clayton.  Her son, Clayton told her that he did not think that God was going to heal her here on earth.  He told her that if God healed you here on earth, you might love earth more and heaven is best.  God says that the righteous walk by faith and not by sight.  We don't need physical eyes to see God.  We need spiritual eyes.  Eyes of faith.
