 Christmas is a festival gifts and Santa Claus. Historically it marks the birth of Jesus Christ, founder of Christianity. Jesus was also known as Jesus of Nazareth. Christmas is celebrated worldwide on 25th December. Some eastern orthodox countries celebrate Christmas on January 7 which is same as December 25th on Julian calendar. A point to note is that 25th may not be the actual date of birth of Christmas and has more traditional and cultural significance than historical accuracy. The main thing is Jesus and his teachings not the actual date of birth, as said by Shakespeare what’s in the name, so what’s in the date. Jesus parents were virgin Marry and her husband Joseph. He was born in Bethlehem.
Day before Christmas is called Christmas eve. Certain countries celebrate Boxers day after Christmas. Christmas is also called Xmas. X in roman culture is the abbreviation of Christ. Christmas is the shortened version of Christ’s mass. Celebration of Christmas includes designing Christmas trees and exchanging gifts.
Santa Claus
Santa Claus is one of the most famous figures among all .He is directly associated with one the most deep feelings of human civilization of being loved and appreciated. The gifts are just a token of love and their value matter the least as compared to the feelings associated with them. Santa Claus is after math of Dutch folk tale that has central figure of Saint Nicholas or Saint Nick who was known to give gifts. . We all have always realized the importance of gifts as it associates our feelings directly to our loved ones. The most important thing of the gift is not the cost it exhibits but the care it shows .Gift selection is an important issue. The gift selection shows how much we care for our loved ones .The cost is not as much important as the thing or the object. The selected gift should match nature of the person and definitely its selection shows how much you know about the taste of the person. The selection also tells how much we have researched for the selection of the gift .This in turn signifies importance of the person to us. So we will explore various gifts and to which type of persons it suits.
Selection of Gifts
We will start with the list of various kinds of gifts and their suitability for various persons. The most common gifts are books. Books are a good choice because it is long lasting and to some extent are informative as well as educative. Let us discuss to which groups we can give which books. For children fantasy books are a good choice. They can be any thing from Harry Potter to Sherlock Holmes, depending on the age group. The choice depends entirely on the tastes and inclination of the children. By giving a book of our choice we can develop specific inclination in our children. Next work group to consider is young adults. We can gift a book according to the nature of the individual. They can range any thing from philosophy to sports to biographies. The middle age group is not that much idealistic and they are more realistic. They may be given a gift book on recipes to controlling your kids to investment techniques. The last age group is older people. As older people are more experienced and more inclined towards religion and god, they must be given some thing related to the same. Not to forget they may be given a book on health also.
Another classic gift items are greeting cards. They are concise and very often are penetrating to the feelings .Selection of cards for specific age groups can be easily done.
Children need cards with some animation and colors. Adolescents on the other hands love cards of some quotations or containing some deep hidden meaning. This also depends on ones relationships with the person. Under certain relationships cards with romantic inclination are also a good pick.
Further there are more gift items such as clothing, electronics, items, mobiles, jewelry, watches, pets, toys, games and much more. Many of the gift items discussed above are age specific. For example one should not gift a mobile to their grandparents who have trouble in hearing. We now take one by one the various gifts listed before. To start with clothing we should avoid giving readymade clothes to people other than children for the only reason they may not fit well. Further we may not judge the favorite colors of person whom we may not know personally very well. Even if we have to give clothing’s we should give the more general matching colors.
Diamonds are a woman’s best friend. So if we have to give some jewelry to our loved ones we should be very specific of their tastes for the only reason that they are costly as well as long term investment.
Watches are also a nice gift items. They are the one which are going to be most noticeable for the only reason they are going to be worn b y the person for longer hours.
Pets are also a soothing and also a personal gift. But you should be aware of the allergies if any and also the personal dislikes of the individual persons.
Toys and games are also a better pick but should be carefully selected. For example we should avoid gifting chess board to an ardent soccer fan!
