Somthing to think about...

Article Summary by: Matk

Original Author: Mark Mallari
I have been thinking of a lot of things lately that risen up questions that I really wanna find the answers to.  Tonight
I accepted an invitation from my co-worker for a church event that they are having in their chapel.  Two of my close friend and co-worker came with me.  Upon ariving, we were welcomed by our co-worker right at the door.  She was happy that we came.  The place was packed with people, and upon entering the door members of that faith came up to us and introduces themselves and greeted us "God bless you!"  It was nice at first, but every single person that you passes by or meet on the hallway, they come up to you and say the exact praise, and after awhile it seems fake.  Its probably just me but I couldn''t help but feel that everybody was fakin it.  Suddenly I felt unwelcome.  I wondered why, how come I feel like this around people who seem to be smiley and welcoming?
My friends and I sat together in a couch, then we started to talk about our beliefs.  She told me something about the bible and I countered saying "how can you believe a book that has been modified several times," there are several version of the bible and at one point, things are explained differently.  And besides, there are several other religious books out there other than the bible.  Here a question that came to mind,  Why do Christians uses the bible and Muslims uses the koran, and other religions uses their OWN religous book.  If every religion is about worshiping the higher being above, why use different books?  Why do we have different religions?  Sometimes I couldn''t help but wonder if any of these are real or if there is really a God out there who supposedly created everything.
Thinking more deeply into it, I realized that religion is the root of all violence even in the old times.  Knowing history itself, one reason why Spaniards conquered Philippines is to introduce Christianity.  "Introduce" maybe a nice way of saying it, but I think a much proper word to use is to "spread" Christianity and make everyone in the world a Christian.  I remember in my government class in senior high that Christian forced non-Christians to convert by torturing them.  It just sunk in to me, how cruel that was.  Violence today also link to religion.  "Jihaad" for Muslims believing that dying with your religious belief will be granted after life.  Terrorisms, it''s mostly violence from one faith to another.  Philippines for example, south and north had been fighting for so long because of religion deferences.  If there is a superior being up there, why is this happening.  Maybe you will say that its people who are doing this to themselves, but if there was a superior being why not touch these peoples heart and mind and make them realize that violence is not the answer, that dying for your belief in order to make a statement and kill innocents doesn''t reward you.  Its also hard to believe that God leads you to your death.  In a gruesome accident for example, its hard to believe that God planned it for you.  Individuals that have been murdered, its very sad that its faith that lead them to that.  For me, it make more sense that things happens as consequences of our actions.  It may not be us who made the wrong move but its a matter of being at one place in a wrong time.
I think that we do things because we have brain.  Our conciouseness, feelings, consciense are there because of our brain.  We do things because we believe that what we are doing is the best thing to do at the time, it may not be the right decision but it may seem right to us according to the situation.  Last week on the news about this guy in Virginia who mass murdered students in his campos, though it looks evil, and it I don''t think the devil pushed him or suggested him to do it.  He had problems and issues and maybe some circumstances that happened that angered him, made him feel unworthy, so he ended his life and unfortunately 32 others were involved.  For those 32 that died that they, can you honestly think that they were destined to die that way?  Sad to think about it.  Somehow, think it like that makes me not enjoy life.  For me, I believe that I control my life, my destiny, my future.  I believe that what I do today shapes tomorrow.
It is now 12:17am, I need to sleep...but let me know what you think.  Just remember that I am not targeting anyone here, just plain stating what I feel and opinion.  If you disagree, don''t hate, let me know what you think, you might answer a question or two that stayed unanswered.  I still have so much to input in this blog but maybe next time!!!
