Christian beliefs: regarding FOOD; Many christians believe that Jesus
Christ and the Apostle Paul has changed the laws
of God, especially on
the clean and unclean foods. They quoted
verses in the Bible which they
thought that verses will give them enough proofs of their beliefs. Here
are the four verses which they said that Jesus
Christ and the
Apostle Paul has changed the law of God. Matthew 15:11; Mark 7:15; 1
Corinthians 8:8; And 1 Timothy 4:3-4. But the truth is, these verses
are NOT enough proof for their beliefs.------- In Matt. 15:11 and Mark
7:15 - lets consider the context and start with verse 1. Christ and his
disciples ate in the house of the Jew who serve's NO PORK nor
BIBLICALLY UNCLEAN MEATS. The issue was they ate without following the
invented PHARISEE TRADITION OF CEREMONIAL washing of hands (NOT DIETARY
LAWS). Christ answered by riding on their accusation that granted their
maybe few dust in eating, such will go out of the body. But He
contrasted that with their EVIL HEARTS and minds which was the bigger
problem.
In 1 corinthians 8:8----- context of 1 cor. 8:1-13 is meats sacrificed
to idols, were Paul said idol is nothing (verse 4). But some in corinth
were idol worshipers and such was bothering their conscience. Thus he
cautioned those with strong conscience not to offend the weak
ones.( verse 8 says, eating such meat offered " DOES NOT MAKE US
BETTER...) Same issue was asked of Paul in 1 cor. 10:28-33.
And in 1 Timothy 4:3-4---- Again, remeber Paul will never contradict
the Bible, otherwise God will reject him from being Apostle! 1 Timothy
4 starts by warning us about doctrines of demons in the las t days (
forbidding marriage< ex. among priests and nuns>, and commanding
abstinece from meats< ex. on fridays>, even meats which God
created to be eaten! Verse 5 says those meats are "sanctified" (set
apart as unclean) by the WORD OF GOD <Bible> outlined in Lev. 11
and Dt. 14 and should be O.K. to eat).
------Let's remember that Paul's epistle was written to believers who
at that time have only the OLD TESTAMENT as Bible. And OLD TESTAMENT is
very clear about what meats to eat and avoid. See Lev.11 and Dt.
14:3-20. Paul was not making any Law or Command to change the laws in
the Bible at all. Let's always remember that principlein any
intepretation.
Conclusion: Jesus Christ and The Apostle Paul NEVER changed any Laws of God.
