Mark was Apostle Peter’s attendant and he seemed to have written down
all that Peter remembered of the things said and done by the Lord, but
not chronologically. John the Baptist, the forerunner of Jesus,
baptized Jesus and his ministry started in earnest. Christ healed many
of their diseases and he started choosing his
disciples. Twelve
disciples were eventually chosen. Jesus taught kingdom-based doctrines
and parables. Scribes brought charges against him that he has the
spirit of Beelzebub but Jesus defended himself. The stilling of the
tempest, the restoration of Jairus’ daughter back to life, the feeding
of the five thousand and four thousand at separate times, were some of
Jesus’ mighty works. Jesus sent out his disciples to preach the gospel
and his fame grew. John the Baptist was beheaded as a result of Herod’s
irrational decision and Herodias’ malice. Though he was rejected in
Nazareth, Jesus performed miracles and taught in Galilee and beyond. He
was later transfigured on a mount in the presence of Peter, James and
John. The
teachings on marriage, divorce, children and the danger of
riches were the teachings that preceded Christ’s
triumphant entry into
Jerusalem. Jesus
foretold his suffering and death in Jerusalem. Jesus
performed more miracles on his way to Jerusalem and he had a grand and
triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The Pharisees could not arrest Jesus
because they feared the crowd so they tried to lead him to make
seditious statements. They failed because Jesus answered their
malicious questions with divine wisdom. Jesus had a prophetic discourse
where he foretold the destruction of the temple and gave vivid details
of signs of Christ’s second coming. Jesus had the last supper with the
disciples, prayed in Gethsemane and he was betrayed by Judas Iscariot.
Jesus was falsely accused by many false witnesses and he appeared
before the High Priest before he was delivered to Pilate. The people
asked for the release of Barabbas and the crucifixion of Jesus. Jesus
was crucified by the roman soldiers and buried by Joseph of Arimathae.
The resurrection and ascension of Jesus wraps up the book of Mark.
