BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN

Book Summary   by:Towers     Original Author: Ang Lee(Director)
ª

Funny how the films that say the most, don't rely on tons of special effects. In fact sometimes the dialogue is sparse and the characters tell the story more by what is not said that what is actually said. BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, directed by Ang Lee, is one of those films. Clearly created from a simple idea, it shows how film can make you feel and think again. It deserves any award that is passed it's way but is more than a piece of art. The two main characters are great and perfectly played. The undertones of the film are clear and sometimes unpleasant. The relationships are believeable and sometimes uncomfortable to watch. It echoes society more than most people realise. The fact that it's played out in such fantastic scenery is another bonus. Because the truth is the story could have taken place anywhere. The love scenes are both meaningfull and effective. It shows the beauty of love. It never feels like this film is about sex but always love. Love between two friends, love between a man and a wife and love of a father and daughter or son. This is why the film is such a triumph and should be seen by many. So much of the time the characters do not speak but you know what they are saying.
