The New Theater

Book Summary by: Alexander

Original Author: Geoff Hardin
For as long as people can remember theater has been made in some form or another all over the world. Growing up you hear
stories written by people long dead yet their stories echo through time because the plays are memorable and the characters sometimes tragic and sometimes heroic. Shakespeare is a common name spoken when great playwrights are talked off but it is not only the old who could write plays that shake the emotional walls that are so often built up inside of us. Movies can result in a catharsis but if a person wants a cleansing of the emotions the person needs to see a moving play. A play that touches the parts of you that you hide at dinner partys but so eagerly want to discuss. Some of those who go to the movie " theater", if it can use that word, know the difference between the plays of old and the movies now. The ones who know the difference are usually the ones who wish to discuss their hidden emotions at the company picnics, and dinner parties which have become such a bore in a mundance life. The acting is still acting yet the emotion is different. In a play there is one take done in front of the audience putting the pressure on the members of the crew where the modern movie has the ability to do mutiple takes which removes the pressure of the audience. Do not take this article the wrong way, please don't get it wrong. Many modern movies have great crews, directors, plots, and settings yet the audience does not get the same effect as the play. In my opinion a powerful play should be a mandatory thing that people should do in life. A good play acted well is a very powerful and moving thing. Seeing a play like that would heighten the pleasure of your movie theater viewing. Movies are great but do take appreciation from the roots the movies people cling to spring from.
