A tale of terror concerning a
small town engulfed by a malevolent
mist,a thick fog descends upon a rural community and claims the lives of
anyone unfortunate enough to be caught outside, a small band of
survivors seeks refuge in a local grocery
store.Most of the action unfolds inside a
supermarket where the townspeople
have gathered to stock up on supplies in the wake of a large storm that
hit the night before. Now trapped in a
darkened cloud of pure horror, the frightened denizens of the town are
forced to fend off an advancing horde of murderous monsters.The mist rolls into the town as a mystery at first, delicate and light
gray and full of unknown possibility. It initially surges and billows
and moves with unnerving quiet, by turns flowing like water and
gathering mass, its smoky tendrils creeping like long fingers. In an
early scene it hovers like a wary animal next to a metal gate at the
back of the supermarket.You may not be astonished if I tell you that there is Something Out
There in the mist. It hammers on windows and doors and is mostly
invisible until a shock cut that shows an insect the size of a cat,
smacking into the store window. Then there are other
things, too.
Something with
tentacles. ("What do you think those tentacles are
attached to?" asks David.) Other things that look like a cross between
a praying mantis and a dinosaur. Creatures that devour half a man in a
