As a keen listener to BBC Radio 4 and Radio 3 and on the odd occasion also Radio 2 I was surprised the other
evening
to tune in - to Russian Drama ... Dr. Zhivago/Pasternak .. and it had a marvellously nostalgic quality to it as I first saw the film about 1967 when a
friend and former flat mate and I went to the cinema as I was supposed to be going to the Mathematics Faculty Dinner but my friend caught flu so we quickly reinvented our schedule for the
evening ..
The Russian Drama that was presented and is currently on BBC Radio has that repetitive theme of wanting to go somewhere .... and the line is echoed throughout the Drama ...
"I want to go to Moscow! " : "I have to go to Moscow" and "I shall go to Moscow" ...
That feeling of never getting there ......... never arriving at your destination because of the war the revolution or a police control on your movements or just dull old responsilities is
what I believe to be the kernel of Russian Drama ..... Chekhov is part of this canon and I do enjoy Russian Drama ............. excellent drama on BBC Radio ... keep on reading Russian Drama .... great stuff!
