One Fine ActorDaniel Day-Lewis bagged his second Oscar for an outstanding perfomance in the movie 'There will be blood'.That
too after an interval of two decades. His first was for the movie 'My left foot' in 1989.                   He was born on the 29th of April,1957 into an illustrious family, son of Cecil Day-lewis of Irish origin.A writer and also a poet,Cecil was a father who didnt express his love for his kids.He died when Daniel was 15 and Daniel always longed for his father's affection.                     Daniel spent his childhood among some tough South London kids.He was shifted to a boarding school in Kent when his deeds of theft and fighting became quite frequent. It was there that he first exhibited his passion towards acting. He acted in his first movie when we was fourteen as an extra. He returned to the silver screen after a gap of 11 years,in 1982,as a rogue attacking Gandhi in the movie,'Gandhi'.It was during this period that he joined The Royal Shakespearian Company in London. He landed the hero's role in 'Romeo and Juliet'.He got recognition for the cinematic interpretation of Milan Kundera's 'The Unbearable Lightness Of being' in 1987.Having portrayed a Czech doctor,he also learned Czech language during its picturisation.                  'My left foot' was a clear presentation of an acting style in which the actor and the character merge into one.Portraying the character of Christy Brown, who is born with crippling cerebral palsy,Daniel put himself in Christy's shoes. He painstakingly underwent everything that a person with cerebral palsy would have to until the shoot was done.        Due to his love for theater,he took up the role of Hamlet, during which he passed out and it became big news.It was the scene where the ghost of his dead father appears before Hamlet for the first time.He walked off,in tears and refused to go on.He was replaced by another actor. He later confessed that he was having conversations with his own dead father on stage. He didn't attempt theater after that.                         'The Last Of The Mohicans' which was released in 1992,three years after he bagged his first Oscar, was an outstanding action movie. For the part of Hawkeye,he underwent rigorous training. He also studied hunting and the woodsman's craft.                           After the movie 'Boxer',Lewis went into semi retirement for five years.Intrigued by the cobbler's craft,he spent his time with family in Florence,Italy.                   He returned to acting with Martin Scorsese's 'The Gangs Of Newyork'as Bill,The butcher. He got an Oscar nomination for the same.                  Daniel Day-lewis is often referred to as an actor who loves his characters more than himself. He is one acor who is willing to put everything into the part he portrays. And that is what sets him apart from the rest of them.
