A film by Terence Malick
With Brooke Adams, Richard Gere, Sam Shepard and Linda Manz.
After
accidentally killing his boss during a brawl, Bill (Richard gere) flees Chicago with his girlfriend Abby (Brooke Adams) and the latter''s sister, Linda (Linda Manz). All three arrived at a farm claiming to be brother and sisters.
On the spot, Bill accidentally learns that the owner of the farm, in love with Abby, is seriously ill and that he has no more than a year left to live. He then decides to push Abby in the arms of the
farmer in order to benefit from his wealth. But the health of the farmer does not deteriorate, the
Days go by, and Abby''s feelings for the farmer are becoming stronger ...
Beautifully filmed by Malick, made of long and contemplative shots (the trademark of Malick) of the wheatfields and the life that flows, the film looks like a series of paintings. Halfway between a Greek drama and a poem to the land and those who work it, Days Of Heaven, carried by the music of Ennio Morriconne, is one of Terence Malick''s masterpieces.
