Songs of Innocence and Experience

Academic Paper Summary by: SM THOMPSON

Original Author: SM Thompson
Songs of Innocence and Experience and a note in my diary resulted in a listen in to the BBC and its Irish Ulster Poet Tom
Paulin who recorded a great insight and incisive structure into the world and poetry
of Blake .. the news of this poet travelled from the bathroom to the dining room and goodness gracious me I caught it - and tuned in just in time.  In fact I put down my own notebook and heard the dulcet tones of Tom Paulin on William Blake.  I must admit I was similarly fascinated by Blake and have thrown in the word or two in Blake's direction to my students both here in the UK and Worldwide.  But the enthusiasm of the Poet Tom Paulin for Blake left me dare I say it ... speechless .. the words and nuances of meaning he drained out of Blake's poetry  gave it new life new meaning.   As one of millions of poets, I modestly add that as Waterstones "Favourite" in 2008 I am still something of a fan of all the Greats .. so it was great listening to hear that other Poets such as Paulin are equally held spellbound by Blake and Blake's eternal poetic landscape ... Paulin adds to the flavour of Blake's poetry with his own views that Blake was certainly a Revolutionary English Poet .. Great work on poets and poetry from Tom Paulin thanks to the BBC UK .... keep on writing the poetry .. nice work!
