In a way when one recalls one's experience at the dinner table and its all hearts and flowers or six hungry people in search
of a
dinner party and I am the hostess with the mostess time on my hands to serve up the dinner - I come back to it as all hard and fast rules never fail me but on one occasion in Africa .. Morocco .... where I was invited with travelling friends to join the dinner group and I got my best Laura Ashley dress out which was made of the finest white linen and my straw hat and I know I looked like Dirk Bogarde in that great movie ... Death in Venice ... but nevertheless I was confidently sure that I would enjoy the evening. ,,, my rules almost failed me but I pulled up my socks and took it in my stride and got on with it all.
Guess who was coming to Dinner? Well, I never! A Python joined us for dinner and he slid up and down the dinner table back and forth stretching his snake like form in and out between we guests.
The Python was the full length of the floor peopled with the dancers and we held our breath and in the conditions applied to all well behaved dinner guests .. we said everything . including the Python an unexpected guest .. was absolutely "lovely!"
So imagine when I read the headlines tonight
blogged by yahoo.com ... Python eats Pet Dog ... I began to feel just a hint of nervousness and was glad our dog was not with me ... she was with her babysitter in Ireland ... otherwise the Python would have swallowed our Pet Dog whole just like this story I have just been blogged. Another shaggy dog story leading to best selling status/cheques - I am sure for Yahoo.com and friends and of course myself, the writer ... nice work!
