Arca Max has today chosen the word "genuflection" to define .. it can mean /bendng the knee/ or grovelling and they quote ....... his grovelling gets on my nerves. But it wasnt always so as Genuflection was seen as an act of respect for the Host in the Catholic Tradition. Say when one went into a Church one would "genuflect" and show that one had respect for the traditions and belief of the Catholic Church.
I must admit its rare that business men "genuflect" at work in England but recently when I read my play REFERENCES I was puzzed as how to exit from the stage as I was Reading not Performaing. I had been invited to many Writers, Famous : Best Sellers: President/Writer: Celeb Writers; Celeb Poets Playwrights and so on and on no occasion have I ever seen them /exit the stage/they are always behind in the room, theatre, or workshop of the Univesity Writers Club whenever I leave, perhaps I am the first to go.
So I decided to "Bow" to bend from the waist down and exit on my right! Did I behave correctly, - probably since its a fluid tradition and even today "Genufection" seems to be an act of a forgotten tradition as the preachers priests clergy are too busy playing policeman .. however I am always in situ as The Writer . nice work on Sundays .
