The film, which made a big impression on me, was „My Nikifor”. It was directed by Krzysztof Krauze and starred by Krystyna
Feldman and Roman Gancarczyk. The film is based on a true story of life of Epifan Drowniak, a primitive
painter known as Nikifor Krynicki. This is a story of friendship between Marian Wlosinski, an academic painter and naïve artist in Krynica. On April 15, 1960, Nikifor came Wlosinski studio and said: “I will paint here”. He came to stay for a little while, but he reminded for the rest of his life. The sickly beggar Nikifor changed Marian life. Wlosinski want to know where Nikifor came from or where he belongs. He cannot get rid of him and finally adopt him and gave up his own work and even his family life. The academic painter look after him and was fascinated his personal freedom which allow Nikifor to create works of the best quality. An 80-year-old actress Krystyna Feldman, whose acting is absolutely outstanding, plays Nikifor. This is
beautiful film about genius, friendship, conviction, humanity and good will. The beautiful sights in mountains region and great music cause the film has own original atmosphere. It is definitely worth seeing.
