Character and Characterization
Like other element, character and characterization are importan element of literary work."Character is defined as an artificial person experiencing conflict and problem inside a literary work (Suharto.2002:50)". Or in other reference, "Character is defined as the the subject who motors conflict in the literary work (Sudjiman,1991:23).
"Commonly types of character in novel can be devided in two group:1. Major or main character, 2, Mior character, the reader usually pay more attention to the major or main character because the main character play an important rule in the story or novel, while the minor character is regarded to be less important than the main character, The major or main character can be analyzed into three groups:1, protagonist, the central character or the hero: 2, Antagonist or the enemy of the protaginist and.3, the champanions or the supporter of the protagonist of the protagonist (Subhan,2003:9)"
"Characterization is providing character, creating images and describing desriptin of a character in literary wor(Suharto,2002:50)", Simply, characterization can be defined as obvious description of the character in work as seen in their attitude, behaviour, the way thinking of life, environment, habit, emotion,desire, and instinct, Characterization is closely related to theme, since theme is the central idea. People within a work will deliver implicitly.
