I am a Canadian. I was born in Toronto. I am the same age as the Duke and Duchess of York. My parents came to Canada from war torn England for a better life.
Canada is an incredible country. It is huge but the climate is such that it isn't easy to grow food. It is cold all the time. It is dark and gloomy.
I love the royal family. They have been very good to my family as they are to everyone I meet.
I admire the Duchess of York for Her Bravery. She went on a canoe trip in the Yukon. That takes a lot of courage. I was a canoe tripper at my summer camp. If a person can survive a canoe trip, they can survive anything. When you are on a canoe trip you can't worry about your makeup. You have to carry your food from one place to another.
The Duke and Duchess of York have two young ladies whom I think are gracious ladies. They are not afraid or if they are afraid they don't show it.
I am fascinated by this movie. Queen Victoria was a popular Queen. She is the Queen I understand the least. She lived for a long time. Apparently everyone was related to her.
I am a stamp collector. I like to collect stamps of the Queen Mother. I can't find them anywhere. I spend the Canadian stamps because they are the best value for the money.
It is too bad that whenever a royal does something people complain about the cost. Like death and taxes, everything worthwhile costs money.
For my money this movie will be a refreshing change from a Christmas Carol. Especially as Charles Dickens wrote a lot of other Christmas stories that no one bothered to read.
My criticism is the pacing. The movie was slow. It was like a Jane Austin novel. That is a unique view of the Queen Victoria.
Stamp collecting is big in Canada. I once had four stamps of hockey plyers. They disappeared. I made a stamp of my dog. It disappeared. Maybe someone is enjoying them.
Back to the film - I thought it was excellent for a first movie and I think the royal family deserve a raise for all the hard work they do.
