This morning breakfast on 3 was excited about 2O years after the death of the great Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman and they played the role from the film: CASABLANCA and it was simply marvellous as the episode was the pace where
Sam the pianist the piano player sings You must remember this - the fundamental things apply - as time goes by - a few lines jotted down throughout the period of the BBC Radio 3 Breakfast show and isnt Casablance everyone's favourite film.
However, I read some interesting information about Bergman and she was indeed Swedish and was cremated and ashes sent back to her homeland Sweden and she had contracted breast cancer and died at 67 so her career
was one peppered with awards and she was involved as all great Hollywood actresses are or were in marriages,
sex scandals, and so called bans from the United States of America and today we celebrate the life and
achievements of that great actress Ingrid Bergman.
I suppose growing up in the 5Os as I did I was flooded with memories of her films and even today I have on my
shelf: a DVD of "Murder On the Orient Express" which I treasure in which Ingrid Bergman plays a supporting
role and she and the rest of the film cast are absolutely fabulous and create a lastingly great impression of that
period in time!
Bergman is survived by some children some of whom are practically the same age as I am and therefore I
ofter wonder if rather than the great actress outliving any of us with publicity such as today on Breakfast on 3 it may be the children who speak for their mother the great actress Ingrid Bergman.
It seems that this period of Bergman's film career is often described as a golden period in the history of movie making and I must admit the images created are perfect even today!
