Superman Returns - Finally re - Resurrected?

Book Summary   by:Astisva Rahi     Original Authors: Bryan Singer(Director\Story); Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris(Story\Screenplay)
ª

"Gods are selfish beings who fly around in little red capes and don't share their power with mankind," Kevin Spacey declares, in the role of Lex Luthor, Superman's arch – enemy evil mastermind in the teaser of the movie that is going to resurrect one of the world's most loved super heroes. Returning after a long sabbatical of twenty years and owing its comeback to the flush of comic inspired movies that have been released and have had success in the past decade; Superman Returns arrives with huge expectations, not only because of Superman’s popularity but having director Bryan Singer at the helm and boasting a production budget of over 250 million USD. Newcomer Brandon Routh, who in the flashes of the trailer reminds us of Christopher Reeve who donned the role of the Man of Steel to perfection in the earlier movies, makes us wonder if he can revive the character as it deserves to be. The story takes place after the events that occur in Superman: The Movie and Superman II, and the red – caped hero visits the remnants of his destroyed home planet Krypton and then returns to earth to resume his role of the people’s savior. He comes back to find that earth has moved on without him, his love Lois Lane too (played by Kate Bosworth). One thing to look up to is the archive footage that director Bryan Singer has re – worked and edited of Marlon Brando from the old movies as Jor – El; the return of another legend.

Director Bryan Singer who previously directed the X- men movies (X – men and X2, hence no stranger to this genre) works with Kevin Spacey again, after the brilliance of the Usual Suspects. Joining this project after Brett Ratner left, (they exchanged jobs; Brett Ratner directed X3) and going through the names of tons of actors for the lead role from Nicolas Cage to Brendan Fraser and then finally selecting Brandon Routh, it has been a long journey for this project to take off and get completed, and all we can hope for is that it brings more life to the series than it ever has, and enthrall us like the comics have.“It’s a bird…it’s a plane…no it’s... ” ….. you know who…
