Charlie Wilson’s War, a film distributed by Universal Pictures Distribution, is the new-released
movie of Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump, Philadelphia) and Julia Roberts (The Mexican, Charlotte’s Web). Based on a true story, the movie which was directed by Mike Nichols (Closer, Angels in America) is picturing a few series of events involving Charlie Wilson - an alcoholic and womanizer Texas Congressman, Gust Avrakotos - a CIA Agent, and the Afghan Freedom-fighters. The events took place during the
War conflict in Afghanistan, a war that still exists until today.
Story:
Charlie Wilson, with the help of Gust Avrakotos, supported the freedom-fighters in Afghanistan to fend off the Soviet Union by supplying money, arms, training and providing a team of military experts. Their action has turned the ill-equipped Afghan resistance
fighters into a well-trained army forces and has set the stage for conflicts in the Middle East.
