The Da Vinci Code has been banned in some countries across
the world. Is it worth ban the screening
of the movie? Is there denigration of Christ? If so, it should be banned. I
asked my friends about the movie who live in other countries where the movie is
screening, for it was banned in my place. They were firmly of the opinion that there
is no such thing to ban the movie in spite of they are Catholics.
In India,
many protests were come out by demanding the government impose ban on screening
The Da Vinci Code. Despite Supreme Court’s green signal, some state governments
banned the movie in India.
What about other movies which are denigrating Hindu gods? No protests have been
come out demanding ban these movies. No government has imposed ban on these
movies. Nevertheless, some of them are big hits. Has The Da Vinci Code been
banned to gain secular image of government’s own party. It seems it is.
However, there are many other movies causing harm to society
by imparting vulgarity, violence and provocations. Experts’ advice is these
movies should not be screened. Now and then, these movies have, although, been
screening.
There are some movies making fun from disabilities. Do these
movies not damage the feelings of who suffer in real life from these
disabilities?
Cinema is an infotainment tool. It may entertain, but it
should not damage public feelings. It may give message, but it should not
corrupt minds. Moreover, film makers should not stray the moral path under the
pretext of creativity.
