Almost two hundred years there were many dubiousnesses regarding the death of Napoleon Bonaparte. Also in spite of finding original records from the autopsy which confirm that the French emperor died of the stomach cancer. Modern medicine confirmed that this diagnosis is (in spite of the speculations about a poisoning) more than liable also because his father and one of his sisters died of the same death.
Napoleon was born in 1769 on the French island Corsica. In 1804 he nominated himself an emperor of France. He managed to keep under a half of Europe, he was defeated, jailed, he rebuilded his reign, experienced the final defeat near Waterloo and got to exile on the island St. Helene where he died in 1821. His death had been a subject of speculations.
Some experts think that the European reigns could be afraid of his repeated come back and that´s why they slowly poisoned him by giving arsenic to wine and food.
The studies demonstrated a high amount of arsenic in Napoleons hair, but the critics sais that then medicines and hair appliances sometimes included also this poison.
A team of scientists decided to analyze the scriptums of Napoleons doctors, medical records of the members of his family and the witnesses statements which had beed discovered.
The scientists haven´t found nothing what could point to the arsenic poisoning (f.e. heart bleeding). But they found strong symptoms of stomach cancer: fast weight loss, stomach filled with a grainy mass connected with a bowels bleeding which can be considered as the real confirmation. The doctors found a big wound on Napoleons stomach which they (comparing with many cases of stomach cancer) marked as a stomach tumour.
What caused the cancer?
The scientists sais it could be caused by the presence of bacteria Helicobacter pylori, which can cause a stomach irritation and increase a probability of cancer. It could also be the bad military food with absence of enough meat, fruit and vegetable.
Napoleons enemies didn´t care what was the illness origin. They needn´t to be afraid of his come back any more. If he was successful in escaping the exile he hadn´t be able to take the command. Also with todays care he could live with his illness one year maximum.
