Renaissance literally means
rebirth. Rebirth of the classics of ancient Greeks and Romans. But was it enough? Did the
Humanists just try to give it a return-to-the-past flavour or was there a new current in the making? While it is true that much of ithe literature, art and philosophy of Renaissance had roots into the classical antiquity, it is also true that new scietific discoveries gave to it a modernistic outlook. Renaissance can thus be best described as an echo of the past and a herad for the
future.
