The
days of Eastar were extremely sensitive in Europe of the middle ages.
Befor the holiday there were
christian fanatical exhortations that made the old crime of the jews- crucifixion of
jeses to an actual and eternal sin that demands constant punishment.
The collective religious sensitive threshold was in those days very high, especially viewed by the jewish customs in the evening before the Pesach and during Pesach days, customs that aroused in their Christians neighbors curiosity together with suspicion. The Christians explained the
jews customs as they were referred to them.
Burning the leavened food was explained by the Christians as disrespect and scorn toward the sacramental bread- the flesh of jeses.
The Christians were certains that the jews are using Christian blood, but were not certains for the reason.
The year was 1144, in the city of Norizt'' in England, on Saturday of Eastar, the body of little Christian orphan named William, who was 12 years old, has been found in the middle of a big forest in the sudelock of the city.
The jews of the city were immediately
accused of the child murder, after they finished their prayers in synagogue, they had lead him like an innocent lamb to slaughter.
The jews were accused that they cought the child who was lunching his lunch, cruelty tortured him, shaved his hair ans stabbed him with sharp toorns until he was bleeding.
The blood
libel of
little William from Noritz'' was the first blood libel and was the start of tens of blood libels in the middle ages until our days
The Noritz'' blood libel has setted the myth patterns of all the blood libles ever after:
The murders were allways rite background and religious ritual, and always occur like in a chain every year. The accusation was collective: all the jews are guilty.
The murders of the Christian victoms made the jews revive their first sin: killing jeses.
In the foundation of the blood libels there are 3 elements: the victom, the miracles and the routinely of the action. All of them bound with each other:
The murder is a religious ritual, the victom and miracles are happening near the graves of the victoms and constitute suncifity certificate of approval from heaven and god.
After every blood libel jews suffered from progroms, their property has been plundered and they were sent to bonfire or were exiled from the country.
The place of the blood libel event became a pilgrimage center to Christians, and the local inhabitans made the holyplace into a profitable busniass: souvenirs, pictures, icons, tours and stories about the miracles that apparently happened in those places.
One of these miracle has been told about a body of little Christian child "little Hugo from Linkoln" and the signs of tortures on him. Like always the jews were accused in the murder, and there was a Christian woman who was blind for most of her life, she touched the dampenss of the child''s body, spreaded it on her eyes and has been cured from her blindness. The grave of little Hugo became a holy place and a pilgrimage center for Christians.
The essence of the blood libel is the faith of the power of the blood. Thus faith has been rootes in many ancient cultures and in the eyes of the Christians: there will be no salvation without drinking the spilled blood of jeses, and the jews will have no salvation without drinking the blood of Christians.
The victom myth also rooted in many cultures in the world and in the heart of Judaism and christianity. The bible''s story of " binding izhak" is a discussion about the question of human sacrifice. The christiniatty made a disconnection between the crucifixion- sacrifice and salvation, and throw it on Judaism that absolutely reject it.
After the 16th the blood libels have gone to kessen, but the myth has nor, and once in a while it appears suddenely in our centuries, like the "damesek blood libel 1840 ", or " kiyev libel 1911 ".
The accusation of the jews became part of the nazi''s propaganda and at thus days we can hear the Palestinians leadership accused the jews in Israel in poisoning the drink water''s wells in the Palestinians villages.
