Mahesa Anabrang, well known as Kebo or Lembu Anabrang is a knight from The Kingdom of Singasari who was sent to Kingdom of
Malayapura in Sumatra which as known as Pamalayu Expedition.
The first and the second expedition were done to secure the sailing road in the Malaka Strait which was very threatened by the pirates after the fall of Sriwijaya Kingdom in 1025. By 1288, Kebo Anabrang had conquered all of Malayan region including The Kingdom of Melayu Jambi and Sriwijaya.
Kebo Anabrang was married to Dara Jingga the daughter of Mauliwarmadewa the King of Melayu Jambi Kingdom. It is strongly believed that Kebo Anabrang is the same person with Adwayawarman the father of Adityawarman the ruler of Pagaruyung Kingdom which was mentioned in the tomb of Kuburajo the first in West Sumatra.
After accomplished the mission, Kebo Anabrang brought Dara Jingga and her sister Dara Petak back to Java to report the success to Kertanegara. Nevertheless, Kertanegara was already passed away when Kebo Anabrang came to Java and The Kingdom of Singasari had been demolished by Jayakatwang from Kediri and Jayakatwang was murdered by the Mongolian army where the army itself was defeated by Raden Wijaya, the King of Majapahit Kingdom.
Dara Petak was then being offered to Raden Wijaya to be his wife. They both had Sri Jayanegara as their heir.
Only few people known that Kebo Anabrang is also the grandfather of Hayam Wuruk. His son, Aryacakradewa was married to Tribuanatunggadewi the daughter of Raden Wijaya, and only few known that his heirs fought with Gajah Mada in the war to conquered Bali around the year of 1340. They were Aryacakradara, Aryadamar (The king of Palembang Kingdom), Aryakutawandira, Aryabelok, and Aryakenceng who was the descended kings of Tabanan and Badung in Bali.
From the story of Kebo Anabrang, I concluded that he was truly a great person who was descended great kings in Nusantara.
