Katapusang Hibik Ng Pilipinas (Final Cry of the Philippines)

Article Summary by: windslash

Original Author: Andres Bonifacio

The poem “Katapusang Hibik ng Pilipinas” states the injustice that the whole Filipino population

experienced under the reign of its supposed “mother country”, Spain.  In the poem, Andres Bonifacio compared the then conqueror, Spain to a mother that neglects her children.  He further blurted out through the poem how as a mother, Spain hurt its child, the Philippines, through brutal treatment, instead of nurturing her.  In the process, Spain’s savagery released an unmistakable wrath from her children.

In the end of the poem, Bonifacio warned Spain that the end of its cruelty to the Philippines is nearing.  He stated that because of the suffering it had to endure for so long, the child will now rise against it.  The poem states the brutal effort that was then needed to free the Philippines against Spain’s grasp.
