Hinduism is a very old religion that exists in the world since ages. It’s ethics ,philosophy,
and the attainment of goal has been accepted by eminent scholars, educationists, philosophers, sages and saints .. Hinduism came into existence by the revelation of the Vedas. The super sensuous truths which have no beginning nor end are
called Vedas. The discoverers of these laws are called Rishis
The greatest strength of Hinduism is it’s implication of the wisdom of the Vedas. The earliest wisdom is preserved in the Vedas .The word Veda means
knowledge. .It is said that Lord himself is the first teacher of the Vedas .They came out of the Lord’s mouth like spontaneous breathing. It was told that Lord gave the Vedas to certain Sages and they carry them from preceptor to disciple. The word “OM” is the essence of this knowledge. OM sound is the combination of three letters namely Aa, Uu, Mm which denotes the three stages in man’s life. They are waking state, dream state. and profound sleep state.
.The great sage Veda Vyasa divided them into four divisions namely- Rig veda—Sama veda—Yajur veda and Atharva Veda. Each Veda was divided into two sections like Mantras, and Brahmanas. Mantras are the special hymns with powers. Brahmanas contain the rules and regulations of the sacrifices. Aranyaks are the forest treatises.
Rig Veda is complied by collecting Riks. Riks means worshipping mantras and hymns. Most of these sacred hymns are meant for the purpose of Yagjnas which means sacrifices Sama veda is complied by collecting samans. It brings peace to the minds. It has it’s own set of Brahmanas and Upanishads.
Yajur Veda is complied by collecting Yajus. .It is divided into two branches like Krishna Yajur Veda and Sukla Yajur Veda. The sage Vaisampayana was unhappy with the disciple Yajnavalkya and asked him to give back his knowledge .So Yajnavalkya gave back the knowledge he learnt from Vaisampayana. This is called Krishna Yajur Veda. Later Yajnavakya prayed to Sun God and got that knowledge directly from Sun This is called Sukla Yajur Veda. Sukla means Pure. The last Veda is the Atharva Veda. It is in the form of prose and hymns.
According to Hinduism there are four stages in man’s life. First stage is called Brahmacharya . After the childhood the parents would perform the third eye opening ceremony and send the boy to the maser or Guru Here he would serve his master with humility and learn the Vedic knowledge . After acquiring the required knowledge he would leave his master’s place.
The next stage is Grihasth Ashram or house holder’s life Here he would get married and take the entire responsibility of the family. He would run the house with hospitality , courtesy and fulfill the duties towards his elders and children.
The third stage would start after completing his responsibilities. He would handover his duties to his son and depart for the forest with his wife to lead an isolated life
The fourth stage is called sanyasa or total renunciation. Here he will be totally detached with every thing and filled his mind with Lord and get the supreme bliss.
This Vedic knowledge is of two types—one is cognizable by the five senses of man and the second is cognizable by the subtle super sensuous power of yoga.
Hindu saints acquired the super human powers and knowledge which exalted them quite far above the world of men and Gods. .When the mind becomes quite and single pointed with concentration, the inner journey begins which takes the mind to new dimensions. The super sensuous relation which is unknown to the man will be known. The total bliss and ultimate happiness will be tasted. The Vedas are the only exponent of the universal religion .Hinduism has many God’s in different forms and names .But one can see the supreme one in all. This is the unity in diversity.
In today’s world man scientifically achieved many things. These scientific inventions are with reason and logic perceived by the sense organs. But sensual powers are limited . There exists minute powers which are beyond the human range. The great sages with their penance and concentration penetrate into the mysteries and secrets of this universe and acquired the most valuable treasure. This valuable heritage we got from the Vedic saints. The Vedas are meant for all ages , times and persons
They influenced the social, economic, political and communal life .Vedic rituals
are observed in Hindu families at the time of birth , marriage, and death etc . Hindu law derived it’s validity from the Vedas.
The modern young Hndu struggles to understand the religion of his fore fathers, and at one stage gives up the quest He became more materialistic Neither he gets peace with the accumulated wealth, nor he gets the divine bliss. There is a Sanskrit verse which says” fools go staggering to and fro like blind man led by the blind”.
Disciplinary life with basic values will remove the human misery, pain , suffering and make the man reach his goal. Such human beings are great strength and support to the society , country, and the nation.
