For whom the bell tolls.

Christian tradition is tired of listening the fearsome sound of tolling bells, coming from church, indicating someone had
died.
The English poet John Donne left us trough out history the following affirmation: "... never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee." But, what relation does this have with a present in which bells are not listened any longer, because of being absorbed by sound, or just because our minds are running at unknown speeds? The problem here is that on May the 29th, 2007, the bells tolled once again, this time speaking figuratively. Venezuela''s president, Hugo Chávez, decided not to renew the transmission''s licence to RCTV, the channel of higher audience in the country, which used to expose great criticism against the government. The authorities of the channel appealed for legal protection to the judiciary, who made no more than ensure the government''s abuse. Behind of an apparent minor incident there is a terrible new: the absolute disappearance of democracy, freedom and human rights.
A great solidarity movement had been created in places where ideas such as liberty and human rights are still values for which is worth to fight for. To these places escaped the Mercosur, who preferred to stay in silence. It is important not to forget the idiom: "silence in a way of being accomplice".
What, then, are we waiting those who believe in a better world, if under the thread to essential values be stay quiet and forget the men and women that, being are equals, today suffer the strong consequence of our silence? Do not forget that ideas tend to expand trough out the world, and it is never late to face a new recession in the history of human beings.
Remember then, that every bell is tolling for us. They are tolling for you.
