People
say they're not ruled by money<
br />and scorn the masses that have "sold out";
but tell me, when is the last time
you tried to befriend a poor person?
Or equate success with the homeless?
The conundrums around us always creates new pickles.
And the very events that make us human
are the ones that people buy.
To relate with each other is
our attempt to "fit in".
A society ruled by the media?
Or secret thoughts sold and packaged,
but found universally within.
Just because someone else
thought it first
doesn't make it any less true-
and here we are back to where we began,
trying to decide for ourselves what
makes "I" SO special.
Contradiction, Irony, Knowledge without Knowing
Observations, Indications, Revelations, Realizations
Judgements, no, I'm not judging
just stating the thoughts you
Know you've had-
secret desires
Who told you they were bad?
Some dead philosopher, words that defied time?
A book written by many, then worshipped through death?
Or was it your mother, father, or brother?
Why does it matter?
Am I measured by the words, or the way I speak?
My appearance, my style, my movements as I sit?
All assumptions-something my Geometry teacher
taught me in 9th grade-
"Assume" makes an ass out of you and me-
Now I understand beyond the humor-
Semantics, there is an origin to all, a reason,
thought,
accepted over time.
Does that make us all just asses, after all?
Thinking we are original?
Or have we just gotten better at selling it?
Talkers aplenty, bedazzling us with new ways to
say it.
Just trying to be one of those people,
whose words lived on,
accepted.
I'm proud to say everything I know today
has been thought before,
and I know depth of character is measured
by what I do, not what I logically
regurgitated yesterday.
Just because you may not "buy in"
Don't talk about it-act like you're "all in."
