Das Kartengeheimnis (The Secret of the Map)

Book Review by: CatherineGallagher

Original Author: Jostein Gaarder
This abstract was translated from Das Kartengeheimnis
A wonderful story about three parallel journeys. The real trip leads Hans-Thomas to go with his father to Greece to look
for his mother there who wanted to be found years go. Meanwhile, Hans-Thomas father introduces him to the world of philosophy and tells him fantastic stories. In the case of the third one, Hans-Thomas also falls into an imaginary world which he reads about in a little book which he has gotten from a strange man whom they met at an intermediate stop on their trip. Many riddles are solved, whether these are real (about the vanished mother), or the philosophical riddles of humanity, as well as the riddle of the dwarf who appears as if he came out from the tiny book. A very prepossessing book, from the author of Sophie's World, which slowly and understandably introduces one to the world of philosophy. For young and old!!
