HINDHUISM AND THE WEST

Book Summary by: shankupreethi

Original Author: UMASHANKAR

The origin of Sanathana Dharma traverses beyond the recorded history of mankind. Wherein, the intellectual souls of divine origin started to wage a war of quest into the mysteries of creation and craved to satisfy their spiritual appetite. Ultimately, their spiritual longing spawned many elite and sacred texts like The Vedas, the Upanishads, the Puranas, Darasanas, etc...  Later, the intellectual thinking of man went beyond the normal perceptions wherefrom an every piece of mystic creation was personified and they established a symbiotic relationship with man. Far beyond the philanthropic expressions, the Vedic intellectuals stretched their expressions of animism in order to pass a thread of love through all the emeralds of creation. An elite and universal compatibility of the sacred texts of Hindus attracted many scholars from different parts of the world.   A German philosopher, J.G. Herder says, "Lost paradise of all religions and philosophies,"  ''the cradle of humanity,'' and also its ''eternal home,'' the great Orient ''waiting to be discovered within ourselves.'' This exotic statement of Herder is one of the testimonies for the Vedic Universality.Furthermore, many scholars and writers express their admiration for the Oriental Enlightenment, which has endured since the time immemorial. Particularly speaking, some intellectual minds like Emerson, Thoreau, Max Muller, Coleridge and William Wordsworth were greatly influenced by the sacred texts of Hindus.       .
