The Antichrist

Book Review by: Manu Magalhaes

Original Author: Manu Magalhães
This abstract was translated from O Anticristo
This short book written
in 1888 marks the position adopted by the autor about transvaluing
all the values. It's
a radical critic about the values of the
Christianism with the daring dignostic that they are the responsibles
for man's sickness. A transvalued experiment, once here the
Christianism isn't evaluated inside the truth of its dogmas, but as a
moral phenomenon that orients all the ocidental civilizatory process;
the book is out of these values trying to identify the battle of
forces which are inside of it since its origins and that keep present
until now. The question is: how intensive are these values and where
will they take us? Through this book we can find in Christianism a
merely ficctional interpretation of the world, with no contact with
the reality, otherwise, it's moved on hate and resentment of this
reality. It tries to understand Christianism since its Jewish
begining, when it still had a powerful God that became, after some
time, a kind God; when it becames impotent before the conquer. The
new sight that the profets made of their past, in exile, translated
in terms of obedience or not to God is the cause of the largeness and
the sufferings of a hole nation. The invention of sin as a mean of
sacerdotal control over the people. The role of Jesus: he is seen as
an anarchist revolutionary that brings the Good News on
his practical life, destroying all the distance between God and man.
Jesus came to teach a new life, not a new faith. His
death on the cross renews the spirit of revenge on his disciples,
which are not able to understand the reason of such cruelty and they
need to find a guilty. Paul finds in the sign God on the
cross the formula to revenge,
inverting all the teachings of the master, that he hasn't even knew,
and creates a religion of hate to the aristocratic values, minding
just to what is little, weak, impotent. Paul inverts the good news of
Chist, creating a sacerdotal religion that conquers Rome, the model
of civilization to strong men. The model of civilization that triumph
with Christianism is a training and dosmeticating one, and the way
found to make it true was the man's sickness. The book is a
transvalued experiment that ends with a conviction sentence against
the Christianism, and marks the success of the transvaluation of the
author. One question remains: who was the Antichrist ?
Nietzsche, the first one that
transvalued Christianism? Paul,
that transformed the good
news into the religion of resentment ? Or Jesus,
the one that with his own life denied all the values defended by the
Christianism? Contacts with the author
