The Dispute About Time

Book Summary by: doc

Original Author: Saima Bashir
You have often heard or read about the lack of communication between the children and parents or the generation gap. But
like most of the people you might not have time to think about them. But the fact is, it is an advancing problem of time.
Generation gap is becoming one of the major causes of the various complaints, both of parents and of children. Children do not want to know about their parent’s past. They are least concerned about what were their parents, before they were parents? They are not at all curious to know about their fore fathers, the olden times, the life at that time and so on. On the other hand, parents only tell their children about the past to set an example for them, like telling them about their education career and some instances they are false. They are just trying to impress their own child and presenting an ideal personality before them, which they may be able to follow. But this does not work at most instances.
The dispute is about time. The future of the parents has become past of their children and they do not want to think about thir past. They want to make their own future. They want to feel more independent and free. This brings out major problems. The time has gone too far away. When these children will become parents, they would be treated in the same manner by their children and so the cycle continues.
This problem seems to be handled easily in those relations, where parents and children have a friendly relation between them, and not an imposing sort of attitude. These parents have an advantage over the others, as they can present an ideal personality in front of their children to follow it, in the light of their experiences.
