THE GREAT DEBATE:
CREATION THEORY VESUS
EVOLUTIONARY THEORY
Scholars and theologians alike have engaged themselves in this great debate concerning which of these theories can, and is the true source of the origin of the universe. Some scholars (scientist), consider the creation story as being backup by faith and cannot be proven, while the theologians considered the evolutionary theory as a subject that lacks
scientific proof and claim that it is not science.
As stated above, it is impossible to demonstrate scientifically which of the two concepts of origins is really true. Although many people teaches
Evolution as though it where a proven fact of science, it is obvious that this is false teaching. There are some
scientist and intellectuals who has rejected the evolutionary theory as a science. The same is true of creation, although some people believe creation theory to be an absolute fact of history, but they believed this from theological perspective rather than historical facts. The truth is neither evolution or creation can either be confirmed or falsified scientifically.
It is a truism that either evolution or creation is, in the proper sense, either scientific theory or hypothesis, even though we hear of “evolution theory” or “creation theory”, such terms are used vaguely, this is because neither is within the domain of science. A valid scientific hypothesis or theory must be empirical, in that the validity of the result can either be confirmed or rejected, but the truth is there are no scientific way to prove these two theories. At this juncture lets take a look into these two theories to ascertain their authenticity.
The evolutionary system attempts to explain the origin, development, and meaning of all things in terms of natural laws and
process which operate today as they have in the past. In this theory no activity of a supernatural creator is required, it claim that the universe and all that is in it evolved from simple life to complex life.
Creationism on the other hand postulate a period of special creation in the beginning, during which all the basic laws and categories of nature, including plants and animals, as well as man, were brought into existence through the special creative process which are no longer taking
place again, it therefore means that creation started and ended after the whole process must have been completed.
Both theory cannot be proved, lets take creation first, creation is not taking place now, so far as can be observed. Therefore, it was accomplished sometimes in the past, if at all, as such it is inaccessible to scientific method, secondly, it is impossible to devise a scientific experiment to describe the creation process, or even to ascertain whether such process can take place, since the creator does not create at the whim of the scientist, thirdly, the creation story did not state who create the creator. On the side of evolution, it is claimed that even if it is taking place today, their processes are too slow to be able to measure or be noticed, therefore, its outside the realm of empirical science, since it takes millions of years to transmute a lower organisms to a higher one. No team of scientist will be available to sustain the time frame involved in evolution. Secondly, the changes we claim to see today in organisms cannot be proved not to have been there before now, lastly, even if scientist could actually achieve artificial creation o life from non-life, or of higher kind from lower kind, it does not mean that such feat is obtainable through natural process.
The conclusion is between the two theories, non can be proved, or either, one is superior to the other, as a matter of fact, belief in something is very necessary for a sound mental health, but a life based on the whim of the moment, with no rationale, is like a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, but lacks substance. A belief is a philosophy of life and not a scientific venture. Therefore, it cannot be provedd or claim as a field of science.
