study linguistics. I thought it would be very necessary for any student (high school, university etc) to learn those
definitions:Linguistics is the scientific study of language. It involves a theory and a methodology.Language is a means of
communication between people. The cries of animals is not a language . Animal communication is global, you cannot split it out.etholinguistics: is the study of disciplines among ethnic groups synchronic linguistics: is the study of the evolution of language in a particular period of time.diachronic linguistics: is the study of historical evolution of language.de saussur(1875-1913) is the first famous diachronist and the first professor of historical linguistics.Semiology is the scientific study of signs.phonemes: distinctive elements which distinguish a word from anothe. They are not meaningful(consonants and vowels ).morphemes: the smallest meaningful unit. aphasia: the loss of language.aphasic:
person who lost language ability.alzheimer: degeneration of the function of the brain.anomia: when the person cannot recognize the names.dialect: is any habitual variety of language , regional , social, that is the way of speaking that characterize a region in terms of the differences of vocabulary, grammar and pronounciation.idiolect: the way of speaking that characterize an individual, that is each one of us has its own way of speaking that differ from the others depending on age,sex etc.diglossia: is a situation where a language is learned largely by formal education and is used for most written and formal spoken purposes.Lingua frinca: is language used by groups that desire social or commercial communication by common agreement.L.A.D: language acquisition device.communicative competence: the faculty to communicate appropriately.Euphemism: is a word or phrase which replaces a taboo word or which is used in the attempt to avoid either fearful or unpleasant subjects. So instead of
