Does Poetry matter today or is it a throwback to a bygone age when our ancestors held up the scroll to the light or the window and read out the words on the page in constant rhyme and in time to the beat of a continuous drum.

Does Poetry matter because its an ancient calling an old artform and even if modernised seems to depend on all of us echoing its master trade as if we were slaves to the order that they conceived and that the views of previous generations are handed down to us so that we might hand them on to others.
