Aptitude tests-they are likely to appear in a classroom,since it is to measure ss probable performance in a foreign lg which he/she has not started to learn.There are not many teachers who take the effort to administer,create such tests.
Aptitude tests- both ss and t are each led to believe that they will be successful of unsuccessful,depending on the aptitude test score
Achievement tests-are usually given to lg learners at the end of the course and its purpose is to see what the ss have learned at a given time,are limited to particular material covered in curriculum within a particular time frame
Diagnostic tests-are usually carried for whole classess rather than individual ss
Hughes-lack of diagn. Tests is unfortunate.they may be useful for individualised instructions or say-instruction
Placement tests-the purpose is to place a student in a particular level or section of a lg curriculum at school(brown)
