I was in this place called London and the waiter .. French incidentally. pointed out that there on the same patch of carpet was Simon Rattle a well known Conductor of Classical
music. I was curious as to where he was bound ... the answer was "Berlin".
Music History is a fascinating subject and as I listen to Radio 3 a lot the music of Handel is
popular and reminded me of the occasion when living in Dublin ... I attended musical concerts at the Concert Hall near where I
lived in the Mews ...
The most interesting comment made at that time was about Handel ... born in Germany ...
1685 - 1759 ... where the Messiah one of Handels famous compositions was first performed in Dublin Ireland ... but Handel wrote the Messiah when he lived in London. There is now a Handel House in London and it has much to recommend it ... was opened around 2003. Oddly enough I was working in London at Regents College Regents Park ... but was not free to visit the Handel House ... still I am fortunate in being able today to enjoy the music of Handel.
Handel greatly influenced ... Haydn Mozat and Beethovan and has had a lasting effect on popular taste in music ..
great listening ... on BBC Radio 3 .. keep on enjoying music ... great stuff!
