The beauty of Tarkan the Turkish Pop Star's amazing output has fascinated me recently especially over Christmas.
I had the time to surf the web and discovered Tarkan whose name I first encountered in Istanbul at ILM
Language School in 2000. "Tarkan is a mega star". Thats true .. I am amazed that 8 years later I now get to see some of
Tarkan's work from Turkey ...his singing is melodic and captures the imagination of
the listener in a way that only music can do. Before getting into definitions I listened to the music with words in Turkish and it was for me as a native speaker in English and an expert in English .. a exercise in
discovery. Discovery of the song and the tune and the
glorious nature of Turkish music in relation to Tarkan and his music.
Its brings back wonderful memories of working and living in Istanbul Turkey and
the images come back to the mind ........... I am with you in my imagination through the music of Tarkan. Istanbul Agliyor has a refrain which is melodic and great listening .... Golly! wouldnt it be great to go back to Istanbul and see Turkey once more -
its good to appreciate Turkish culture and language through Tarkan''s music .. excellent work!
