Fred Astaire was an American dancer and actor, he became a star of motion-picture musicals. He was best
known for his graceful dancing and for playing the parts of charming gentlemen.
Astaire was born in Omaha, Nebraska. His real name was Frederick Austerlitz. From 1916 to 1932, he and his sister, Adele, were a dance team. They starred in stage
musicals in New York. Astaire made his first film in 1933. Later that year he teamed up with dancer Ginger Rogers in flying Down to Rio. They were very
popular and made nine more films together.
Astaire made more than 35 movies, including musicals such as Holiday Inn (1942) and dramatic films, such as On the beach (1959). He pass away in 1987.
