Mark Heertsgaard''s book
is among the best ones written about the already classic
group.Translated to
several languages,it is scholarly,serious,but
entertaining giving the reader an interesting unique insight of how the
Beatles
songs were created.Heertsgaard''s method was to investigate how each
single, how each album was produced, and to add a
critical analysis of each
song. There are also some biographical chapters about the lives of the
"fab four",the author describes how their backgrounds, the experiences of
their childhood influenced their enormous creativity.Heertsgaard made it
clear that there are many myths around the Lennon-McCartney partnership. He
tried to distinguish myth from reality, and so described which song was the
result of a real Lennon-McCartney co-operation,and which one was the
creation of only one of them.He also tells the story of how it happened
trhat George Harrison inrtroduced Indian spirituality and Indian sitar music
into Western popular culture.Outstanding Beatles- songs like A Day In The
Life,Eleonor Rigby and others are thoroughly analysed referring to several
critical sources, this way explaining why these songs are special from an
artistic point of view.
