Candy-Coated Life

Article Summary   by:Teacher Joy     Original Author: Joy Viernes

Life can be bland or bitter. The world is sometimes without pity or
without care. How do we survive? We “coat” ourselves with things that appear
nice… sweet… Similar to dark chocolates turned red, green or blue… or a dough turned gold with caramel glaze.

In
our own effort, we earn recognitions and establish a name, thinking
they are pre-requisites to life. Or maybe wear the finest, be
acquaintances of the rich and the famous, thinking that material
possessions
equal our worth as humans. We have learned to change everything from
head to
toe. We became followers of others’ dreams… all for the sake of feeling
the
acceptance… the belongingness.

And before we know it we have already lost identity since we have been covered up by skin-deep sweetness...

We cross borders, thinking we could escape today. We laugh, blabber, try
to talk about things that we are not, we don’t have or could not do. We think
that when we appear flashy, the dark side would not exist.

But no. A candy-coat will melt… in our hands, in our mouth, or when the
heat is on.

In
this life I have learned that there is more than good looks,
achievements,
having a name, wealth and connections. They are like candy coats to me.
We’ll
all soon age. And as long as I don''t get my brows tattooed, they will
one day sag. Someone someday will be better than us, and will beat our
record.
And the titles? One may be an M.D., an L.C., a Ph.D., a C.P.A., but all
names
will boil to having R.I.P... in loving memory! So where will our wealth
go? And friends, they come
and go…

I have learned to genuinely enjoy life by just knowing and having one…
God. He gives, He takes away, He blesses, disciplines, teaches,
guides,
protects, encourages, strengthens. He does everything that I need to
live, to be more than just exist. He has taught me that it’s not about
what
other people see, but as He does. I have learned that more than
candy-coating
my body, it’s nourishing my soul, and keeping my spirit alive. Now
that’s worth
the effort.

And since I acknowledge God as the giver of my life, every move is done
with obedience and gratitude. He deserves all the credit… on however I look, the
distance I go, the prize I earn. Simply because this life is all about Him.

So
all I ever have to be is what He made me. All I ever need is what He
gives. All I ever do is what He says. All I ever want is who He is.
After all, all He would require is what He has supplied. I have learned
that He is easy to live with, He is easy to please. No need of any gold
or glory because He himself would give, even more. He loves me as I am.
He made me.

When all else fades, God will still be there to love me.

Life can be bland or bitter. The world is sometimes without pity or
without care. How do I move on? I coat myself with God’s love alone. A coat I’m
sure you too would love to wear even when the heat is on! And He goes beyond the superficial, He fills me!Write your abstract here.
