M. N. Roy's New Humanism and Materialism Dr. Ramendra, 2001, pp. 144, Price Rs. 100 (US $5) This scholarly book by Dr. Ramendra focuses on Roy’s materialism and its differences from traditional and Marxian materialism. Besides, the author has also discussed the appropriateness of the term “materialism” for describing M. N. Roy’s philosophy. According to Dr. Ramendra, it is better to use “physical realism” for describing M. N. Roy’s theory of reality, a term preferred by Roy himself. In addition to being an authoritative exposition of M. N. Roy’s new humanism and materialism, Dr. Ramendra’s book is an authentic source of information on traditional materialism as well as on Marxian materialism. In fact, the book is a thoroughly revised version of author's D.Litt. thesis on the same subject. It has been revised to make it an easy reading for general readers with no prior knowlede of philosophy. The book is well documented and contains a good bibliography.
Among others, the book has been reviewed by the Rationalist Voice, Radical Humanist and The Bertrand Russell Society Quarterly. The review of the book is available on the website of Bertrand Russell Society (See link below).
