After 26th July catastrophe,
people of Thane are affected a lot.
There’s an urgent need to address major issues of Thane people. So, I proposed to meet Mr. Torat, Asst.
Commissioner. He informed that certain
staff of TMC was working day and night to distribute medicines to the affected
people. He promised to take effective
steps to solve major problems. Mr.
Chandrasekhar, then Municipal Commissioner initiated several steps to create a
distinctive image of “Thane City”. Mr.
Torat informed about various steps taken by the TMC to resolve certain issues.
Here’s the excerpt of the interview
with Mr. Ganshayam Torat, Asst. Commissioner of TMC.
With the alarming rate of epidemic
death, there’s an urgent need for precautions. Mr. Torat, what action you had
initiated to control the epidemic crisis that took away numerous lives of Thane
people.
“I have instructed Ward officers to
distribute pills to the affected areas.
They had distributed 350 strips of tablets to various locations.
Are you taking specific steps to
educate people about this disease?
Yes, we are trying to educate
people about the need for precautions i.e. taking boiled water, keeping the
areas clean and not to eat food items sold on the road.
What’s the reason for huge
accumulation of garbage in certain areas?
“We are trying to remove large
volumes of garbage. Due to heavy rain,
garbage could not be removed. We are
trying our best to keep the City clean”
What about wastage recycling process?
“We are making efforts to recycle
the garbage. We have asked concerned
department submit a report
Due to heavy rain, roads have been
damaged. Why can’t you make special
arrangement to fill in potholes immediately?
I have asked the report of road
damage. On receipt of report from them,
I will definitely make arrangements to fill in the roads. We have already repaired certain roads
recently.
