A Question of Faith

Book Summary   by:Brandy     Original Author: Dante Gagelonia
ª

What does real faith mean? People live by faith every day whether they realize it or not. Faith is something that simply cannot be seperated from every day life. Every minute of every hour of every day, we exercise faith of some kind. We go to school or work believing we will arrive safely. We assume we will accomplish something each day. We go about our business confident that everything will go well. When we go to sleep, we believe we will wake up in the morning.

Things do go wrong sometimes, tho. Accidents can and do happen. People can and do break our cycle of faith through misunderstandings. In the face of adversity, faith must be protected.

It is easy in the world we live in to become hopelessly disillusioned. We tend to stick labels on people such as naive or ignorant. Yet, we complain about our world having nothing to offer us even tho we label with negative labels. There is something wrong with this cycle of thinking.

The last two or three generations have become weak because we have lost faith and are sometimes overly cynical. Who are we trying to protect ourselves from? We are trying to protect ourselves from others who have lost their faith and have become like us.

It is ironic that the happiest people seem to be the people who have suffered great disappointments as well tragedy and have managed to hold on to their faith in all things good in spite of the setbacks. They are happier because they don't dwell on the negative or focus on the grief. Instead, they view their losses as learning experiences and find joy in bad circumstances. Above all, they keep their faith that all will be well anyway.

We all have beliefs whether negative or positive. True faith holds out for the best, no matter what happens. Faith is all about perserverance in the face of seemingly impossible odds and about confidence in your values. It's all about being stronger than the obstacles that come your way.
