Religion is
an institution that regulates man's spiritual life. Humans have a limited
ability. The recognition of their ability makes a belief that there is
something extraordinary out of him. It certainly comes from a great resource as
well. There are many kinds of the great resource; it is according to the
language of human itself. Eg: Tuhan, Dewa, God, Syang-ti, Kami-Sama etc. or just call His
character, eg : The Great, Yang Maha Kuasa, Ingkang Murbeng
Dumadi etc.
This belief brings
human to seek the nearness to God by devote themselves to Him;

Receive any certainty that befell himself
and around him and believes it comes from God.

Obey all the provisions, rules and laws
that is believed come from God.
Thus there is a clear
statement that religion is a human servitude to his Lord.

According to Leight, Keller and Calhoun religion consist of several basic
elements;
Ø Religious belief. It is
a principle which is considered true without any doubt.
Ø Religious symbol. It is
the identity of religion that they are professed.
Ø Religious practice. It
is a vertical relationship between man and his God.
Ø Religious people. They
are the professed of the religion.
