Relationship
between religion, ideology and worldview
Murtadha Muthahhari, an Iran philosopher said, “Worldview
contains world knowledge, it relates to issues of knowledge which were the
human characteristic that is different with the sense (instinct). In this case
human have a similarity with animal”. Both human and animal live with their
instinct, such as instinct to eat, defend themselves and sexuality. Human,
however, not only live with their instinct but also with their mind. This makes
a different with animal. Mind can subdue the instinct; this is why human can be
called as humane. However if their mind can’t subdue their instinct they are
called as animal (hewani). Human should know the mean “ontology of their
activity; for what they do that, should they do that or not, which is the
obligation and which is not”. This method tightly bound to what we call tactic
and strategy, but it still contain of obligations that make their ideology.
Ideology can be solid if there is a
theory. For example the ideology of worship to God is based on theoretic law
that God create this universe. If there is no theory about it, it is impossible
to worship God. Then, we should have a realistic reason to make a right
ideology.
Murtadha Muthahhari
said, a good worldview has some characteristics;
1.
Can be proofed with a
logic reason so that it can be easily received rationally and it can be used as
a guidance to eliminate the unknown.
2.
Give a life meaning. Eliminate
an idea that life is useless.
3.
Raise the enthusiasm so
that they have spirit and power.
4.
Can strength and purify
the social purposes of human so that make human easier to sacrifice themselves
for this purpose.
5.
Raise the commitment and
responsibility so as to make people responsible to themselves and society.
This view can be found in religion. Because basically all of
religions believe that this universe can appear because of wisdom and the
pattern of development stand before rightness and wisdom. The wisdom is come
from God. This universe is run in a harmonic system, toward in one direction,
one center. This universe is managed by a set of definite rule. The entire rule
is from God. Those 5 characteristics can be found in religion.
