THE GREAT DEBATE: CREATION THEORY VESUS EVOLUTIONARY THEORY
Scholars and Theologians have engaged themselves in the great debate concerning which of these theories can, and is the true source of the origin of the universe.
Some scholars (scientist) consider the ‘Creation story’ as being backed up by faith, which cannot be proved. Theologians on the other hand considered the ‘evolutionary theory’ as a subject that lacks scientific proof.
As stated above, it is impossible to demonstrate scientifically which of the two concepts on the origins of the universe is true. Although, evolution is taught as a proven fact of science, it is obviously a false teaching.
There are some scientist and intellectuals who have rejected the evolutionary theory as a science. The same is true of creation theory, which is believed to be an absolute fact of history. Such belief is more from theological perspective rather than historical facts.
The truth is neither evolution nor creation theories can either be confirmed or rejected scientifically. Though we hear of "evolution theory" or "creation theory", such terms are used vaguely; this is because neither is within the domain of science.
A valid scientific hypothesis or theory must be empirical, in that the validity of the result can either be confirmed or rejected. But with regards to "evolution theory" or "creation theory", there are no scientific ways to prove these two theories.
The evolutionary theory attempt to explain the origin, development, and reality in line with natural laws and process. Proponents’ of this theory do not recognise a supernatural creator, it is claimed that the universe and all that is in it evolved from simple life to complex life.
Creationist on the other hand, postulate a period of special creation in the beginning by a creator, during which all the basic laws and categories of nature, including plants, animals, as well as man, were brought into existence through the special creative process that no longer taking place again. It therefore means that creation started and ended after the whole process must have been completed.
A comparative analysis of both theories will help at this stage. Creationist claimed that, creation is no longer taking place; they claimed that creation was accomplished sometimes in the past.
Secondly, it is impossible to devise a scientific experiment to describe the creation process, or even to ascertain whether such process can take place, since the creator does not create at the whim of the scientist.
Thirdly, the creation story did not state who create the creator.
Evolutionist claimed that evolution is still taking place, but the processes are too slow to be able to measure or be noticed. Therefore, it’s outside the realm of empirical science, since it takes millions of years to transmute from a lower organism to a higher one. No team of scientist will be available to sustain the time frame involved in evolution.
Secondly, the changes we claim to see today in organisms cannot be proved not to have been there before now;
lastly, even if scientist could actually achieve artificial creation o life from non-life, or of higher kind from lower kind, it does not mean that such feat is obtainable through natural process. The conclusion is between the two theories, non can be proved, or either, one is superior to the other, as a matter of fact, belief in something is very necessary for a sound mental health, but a life based on the whim of the moment, with no rationale, is like a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, but lacks substance. A belief is a philosophy of life and not a scientific venture. Therefore, it cannot be proved or claim as a field of science
