Srimad Gita for modern life
Srimad

Gita or Gita is one of the widely accepted sacred
texts through out the world. Gita in simple words means,
Song of
life .
Scholars of different faiths study it to seek
answers to various questions on life after death,
responsibility,
and detachment
.

Like many sacred religious texts of
other religions such as, Torah, Bible, and Quran and Zend
avestha, it teaches uniform method to survive turns of
life. It has two central characters- Sri Krishna and
Arjuna.
They both have a dialogue in the battlefield
where Srikrishna, the greatest Philosopher of that
era, motivates Arjuna, the greatest but the disheartened
warrior.
Sri Krishna as an advisor exhorts Arjuna to
keep aside his worries and take up challenges of life. He
says, 'Even circumstances are against you but never
leave your duties for a single moment.’
In Hinduism, Srikrishna
is worshipped as Supreme Being who took human form to
rid this earth of man made sufferings. Gita exhorts
its readers to keep faith in supreme power and work in
detached manner.

It explains when work is done with a motive
then
we are worried about its outcome
. When we work in a
selfless manner, we are sure to do our best and leave
everything to our creator.
Today most of us work to
gain something be it appreciation or money or status but
while it we do not know if we are going to get the positive
result!

Gita also explains that this entire creation
is

hand work of Divine power who knows everything and
loves

everyone regardless of sex, creed or religion because
for

it everything is part of it’s creation
. When we
realise

that the other person is also part of us then we do not

want to hurt him or her or it. Then we become more
humane

and start loving others. One of the important lessons
of

Gita is that this body is like clothes while soul is
ever

living entity that cannot be killed and destroyed by
fire,

water, or any thing. This ever living consciousness is

part of supreme consciousness. Soul collects good and
bad

experiences during its stay in this earth and one

undergoes numerous births because of these
experiences .For

example if one eats a lot and desires food , food, and
food

then he/she will be born again to satisfy food
instinct.

Gita explains craving for a desire leads to another and
one

gets caught up in this web of desires .
Message of
Gita

is not for cowards and those with escapist tendencies,
it

is for all who want to give a hand to every situation

without having any attachment.
Gita should be read
by

all not as a spiritual text but answer book to every

mundane problem. Many famous philosophers from Dr.

Radhakrishanan to Bertrand Russell have written on
this

deep subject and many concluded that it is not easy to

fully interpret it.
However Gita is for all who

understand that Hard work is service to God and
detachment

is panacea to all ills
